In a fascinating series
of images, Reuben Greene a talented and prolific photographer, chronicled
life in North Bennington Vermont (and the surrounding area) during the
approximate period of 1930 - 1960. A collection of 1310 prints and 22
images remains. These images were archived by Mark Case. All of
the images, except some framed works, were digitized by Julie Kitchell.
Small copies of four Reuben Greene images
are shown below. A click on each image will bring up a separate page with
a larger version of the same image.
The images "Main
Street" and "Middle-aged Man" are excellent representatives
of photographs of the period. "Snack Shack"
and "Twins", are captivating, yet the tinted prints
lack the snap that could have been achieved with more dark room work. Passing your mouse pointer
over each of these two images will reveal digitally enhanced versions of the images.
These enhanced versions are also shown on the pages with the enlargements.
